AVEVA Edge (formerly known as InduSoft Web Studio) is a customizable and scalable software solution with SCADA, HMI and IoT Edge capabilities. A product by British-based AVEVA Group, AVEVA Edge is designed for OEMs (original equipment manufacturers), system integrators and end users, enabling them to develop HMI/SCADA applications in a single development environment with easy cross-platform deployment.
Supporting more than 250 native communication protocols, including OPC UA/DA connectivity, AVEVA Edge allows the integration with various devices and third-party solutions, such as Clarify. Thanks to our flexible input APIs, Clarify can be easily connected to AVEVA Edge, providing a cost-efficient and simple way of getting value from the time series data sent to the platform.
Clarify makes it easy to visualize time series data from your IoT network, access it on web and mobile devices, as well as sharing data to other people. With Clarify, your organization can focus on key business goals instead of configuring dashboards or developing expensive custom solutions.
AVEVA Group PLC (formerly InduSoft) is a provider of industrial software solutions and IT consulting services based in Cambridge, the United Kingdom. The company was founded in 1967 in Cambridge as a collaboration project by the UK Ministry of Technology and Cambridge University, aimed at establishing a Cambridge-based CADCentre (Computer-Aided Design Centre) able to develop computer-aided design techniques for applications in British industry.
Cambridge CADCentre, initially headed by Arthur Llewelyn as its first director, conducted CAD research and eventually became known in the CAD community for a number of its projects, such as a Plant Design Management System (PDMS) for the 3D process plant design, initially released in 1974.
CADCentre was turned into a private company in 1983, as the subject of a management buyout in 1994, and became a public company, traded on London Stock Exchange, in 1996, renamed as InduSoft in 1997. Finally, the company changed its name to AVEVA Group in 2001.
Over the years, AVEVA Group acquired a number of companies, such as: Tribon Solutions (a global supplier of naval architecture software) in 2004, Realitywave (the developer of a web collaboration and streaming platform) in 2005, iDesignOffice (a creator of instrumentation engineering instruments) in 2009, ADB Systemer AS (a provider of operations integrity management software) in 2010, Bocad Group (a provider of building information modeling) in 2012, and a number of others.
AVEVA Group’s most significant acquisition—AVEVA acquitted OSIsoft for US$5 bln—was completed in 2021 and became one of the largest deals made by a UK-based tech company.
AVEVA Edge is a comprehensive platform that incorporates a variety of components for the development of HMI/SCADA applications in a single development environment (as well as easy deployment of these apps on edge devices), created for OEMs, machine builders, and system integrators, as well as end users.
