Manolin is a software company that develops a data analytics platform able to predict fish health. The platform is designed to help aquaculture farmers to tackle aquaculture diseases and build more sustainable farms.
Manolin platform is able to combine fish farm’s internal production data with multiple other industry sources, such as marine sensors, boat traffic, marine activity, live disease outbreak reports, oceanographic forecasts, historical data, and more.
Manolin can be easily integrated with Clarify, providing a cost-efficient and simple way of getting value from all the data going through this platform. Clarify makes it easy to visualize time series data, access it on web and mobile devices, as well as sharing data to other people.
Manolin was founded in 2018 by John Costantino and Tony Chen. The company is based in Bergen, Norway, and Denver, the United States.
Machine learning models developed by the company are powered by millions of data points and include live disease outbreak reports, oceanographic forecasts, marine sensors, boat traffic, marine activity across more than 600 active farms, years of historical data, and more.
Manolin’s initial project was focused on alerting farmers of nearby sea lice outbreaks. Over the time, the platform has expanded to incorporate data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Norwegian government, individual farmers and various other sources to help its customers gain insights into their fish and farm health.
According to Manolin, in two years of operations, the company has attracted six Norwegian farmer customers, and its platform manages more than $200 million worth of salmon for them.
Manolin’s platform provides users with multiple fish health prediction tools and combines customer’s production information with third-party data from different sources.
The Manolin platform scans millions of industry data points every 15 minutes, filling in the gaps in farm data and alerting farmers about disease outbreaks and other potential emergencies. Manolin’s machine learning models are able to predict early onset of disease with 93% accuracy. Other features of Manolin’s platform include PD and ISA risk forecasting, anomaly detection, and risk increase alerts.
Manolin’s platform has advanced data analytics capabilities based on machine learning algorithms that allow farmers to view trends over time. This includes farm-level benchmarking tools, generation, site, and cage comparison, and real-time analysis.
When it comes to tracking capabilities, Manolin provides users with non-notifiable disease outbreak alerts, nearby treatment alerts, maps of real-time fish health across the country, historic farm data timelines, etc.
